About Us

Rock mechanics, which started to develop as a separate science in the early 1960s, has been an interdisciplinary subject by continuing its development in recent years. The first of the National Rock Mechanics Symposiums was organized by METU in 1986, continued as a series of regional symposiums with the 6th Symposium in 2002, and the last one was held on October 2018 in Trabzon by KTU. KAYAMEK'2022, the 13th Regional Rock Mechanics Symposium, was planned to be held in Isparta on September 30 - October 2, 2021 with the SDU Mining Engineering Department under the Turkish National Rock Mechanics Association. However, due to the Covid-19 epidemic that has been experienced around the world for nearly two years, as in many symposium/congress organizations, it was found appropriate to postpone the symposium to be held face-to-face on May 26-28, 2022 instead of online. Because, in this process, it has been observed that the online symposiums are incompatible with both the technical problems and the spirit of such scientific activities. The aim of this symposium is to share the researches done in the field of Rock Mechanics, to evaluate the outputs and to discuss them in a scientific environment and to increase interdisciplinary cooperation. Scientific symposiums and congresses are extremely important not only for the academic community, but also for engineers working in the relevant sector. In this respect, it is also aimed that external stakeholders can share their experiences within the scope of the symposium. The third announcement brochure about the 13th Regional Rock Mechanics Symposium is attached. For more information about the symposium, please visit our website (http://sempozyum2.sdu.edu.tr/rockmec). We will be honoured and happy to invite all engineers, researchers, planners and managers interested in rock mechanics and related subjects to this symposium and to see you among us.
